JCCC Ad/PR Club to Host Branding Debate


Overland Park, Kan. –
The Johnson County Community College Advertising and Public Relations Club will host a presentation program on Tuesday, November 20 at 11 a.m. in the CC 211. The presentation will showcase the similarities and differences between both advertising and public relations - similar to that of a presidential debate.

Program speakers include the following:

Kathryn Lorenzen, associate at LandaJob, has over18 years in corporate marketing/agency account management. Lorenzen started out in advertising as a traffic manager at New Product Insights/SCG Advertising and worked her way up to management supervisor at Valentine Radford Advertising. Along the way, she worked as a media and research manager at ERA Real Estate and in account management at several ad agencies – including The Bosworth Group and The Reed Agency in Charleston, SC. Henry Russell Bruce in Cedar Rapids, IA, and Bernstein- Rein in Kansas City. She has become a Certified Personnel Consultant (CPC; from the National Assn. of Personnel Services) and a Career Development Facilitator (CDF; from the National Career Development Assn.). Lorenzen currently serves on the KC Ad Club Board and the local board of the Association of Career Professionals International. She’s been at LandaJob since 1997.

Jenny Kincaid, CEO and Founder of SocialWRX, is a Public Relations, Marketing and Communications professional with more than ten years experience in developing and managing a variety of small to mid-size clients and their many needs. Her experience includes small business owner, public relations and marketing campaigns, brand development, targeted media relations, community outreach and has garnered multiple strategic partnerships with small to large locally owned businesses and brands.

Paul Arnhold, Bushnell Outdoor Products Public Relations Manager, graduated from the A.Q. Miller of Journalism and Mass Communication at Kansas State University with an emphasis in public relations. Bushnell Outdoor Products is a global manufacturer and marketer of branded consumer products based in Overland Park, Kansas. Bushnell Outdoor Products sells its products worldwide under the Bushnell, Tasco, Serengeti, Bollé, Uncle Mike’s Law Enforcement, Stoney Point, Uncle Mike’s, Millett, Hoppe’s, Butler Creek, Cébé, Final Approach and Simmons brand names. Arnhold has worked in public relations and marketing with a number of top companies, including Barkley, CITGO Petroleum and the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Arnhold is a board member with the Kansas City chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC).

Anthony Magliano, Founder/ Director of Quixotic - Kansas City's premier contemporary performance art ensemble, graduated from Johnson County Community College with a degree in graphic design and interactive media. Magliano has over 10 years of working in graphic design/digital experience and was previously the Interactive Creative Director of Bernstein-Rein Advertising. His award-winning work includes: motion graphics, interactive and dynamic web sites, interactive branding, e-mail and online advertising, intranet/extranet solutions and interactive viral tactics. He has worked on web projects for clients including Bayer, McDonald’s, Hostess, Ruby Tuesday, Kasil Denim, Dell, Farmland Foods and Ubisoft.
